As a business owner, you need three extremely important things, if you really want to be successful. First, you need to use the services of an Expert or Mentor in your field. Don’t know much about copy writing, proof reading, marketing, and or Website Design? Don’t worry, most people don’t. What you need to do is play smart. You need to find yourself someone who has, “been there, done that”, an Expert. Finding yourself a mentor can be a huge advantage to you; both financially and mentally. The majority of people, who try to establish a home business, have absolutely no idea what they are doing. This can be a massive hurdle. Money is spent and lost. The mental hardship continues to erode any determination.

Secondly, have a back-up plan!

Trying to establish and run a home business is a lot like being a boat captain, with no life rafts or preservers. If the boat starts to sink, you really have no option but to go down with it. The same principle applies to having a home business. Even though we may try as hard as we can, some things just don’t work. This is where your back-up plan comes in handy. Make sure you give your home business every chance it can to be successful, but if it does not go right, don’t be afraid to cut your losses and move on to plan “B”.

Thirdly, Unstoppable Determination and Desire.

Interestingly enough, this is the sole reason why the majority of people don’t succeed online. They don’t have that “x-factor”. They don’t have that relentless desire and determination. Here is something you should write down, and read every time you wake up, before you go to sleep, while you make your cup of coffee or tea–while you do anything. In fact, whatever success you achieve, it will be in direct proportion to the determination and desire, which you express. More desire, more determination, more success!”

Here is an example to illustrate my point:

I’m sure we’ve all heard of Kobe Bryant, right? Most people believe his excellent talent makes him an exceptionally special NBA player. In saying that, his amazing talent does play a big role in his success but what really makes him such an amazing player is his desire and determination. Put simply, he just wants more wins, more championships, than anyone else on the court does.

That’s how you, the new home business owner, must learn to think and act. You have to want your success with your entire being. Every part of your body, mind and soul, must be screaming, “I want to be successful!”, and you have to make sure nothing can stop you from being successful–nothing! New business ideas are the perfect example. How many do you try to come up with in a given time period, say a week, to bring in new clients or customers? I mean new innovative ideas? Thinking outside the box kind of ideas that can supercharge your company?

Turning the books is one that I came up with to make people go Wow when they walk into your store. This is a new exciting, fresh idea for bookstores or antique stores that sell old books. If you ever notice when you walk up to a bookshelf you will see a bunch of people all standing there with their heads turned sideways. They are trying to read the book titles to see if they want to buy a book. Now what do you think would happen if the storeowner turned the books on their sides! The customers could read the titles so much easier and I think would buy a lot more books!

That is just one innovative fresh idea that I came up with this week. No it will not work for an online business but I think you get the meaning here. Use your imagination to find new ways to get people interested in your company!

    What a great idea. I do read a lot of books and love to get them at antique shops. I can see them turned. It would make buying them easier and faster. I don’t own a business but do manage one and like these ideas.

    I love to read and go through quite a few books every week. This is an awesome idea. I hope someone actually does it. :}
